Yogi Bear, an instant classic
and ironically just in time to cash in on the new live-action Yogi Bear movie!
Yogi Bear’s All-Star Comedy Christmas Caper is brought to us by Hanna-Barbera
– Hanna-Barbera are responsible for some of the greatest cartoons to hit television: The Flintstones, The Jetsons –
just to name a couple, and Yogi Bear is definitely one of my favorites. Yogi Bear’s All-Star Comedy
Christmas Caper is just in time for the holidays – a show that you can easily make a family tradition each and every
Christmas. Unfortunately I can’t help to feel as though this DVD was only released to cash in on
the Yogi Bear movie that hit theaters a few weeks back, I know it was released because of the holiday season, but why only
release it with two episodes? Why not include every Christmas episode or special that Yogi Bear (or
the Hanna-Barbera universe) ever made? But instead you get one Christmas episode and a special Yogi
Bear birthday episode.
The Christmas episode follows Yogi Bear and Boo Boo as they leave Jellystone Park and escape to the city where he pretends
to be a department store Santa Clause. The episode is fun and filled with many Hanna-Barbera characters
such as Augie Doggie, The Flintstones, Huckleberry Hound, Quick Draw McGraw, and Snagglepuss. These guest
stars definitely boost my enthusiasm in watching this DVD, growing up in the early eighties I highly enjoyed each of them
equally, and they’re no different here.
Although
I do feel we should receive more (more episodes or more special features) when buying this DVD, it is definitely
worth picking up or at least renting. This Christmas episode could easily become a family tradition and
sit right next to Rudolph The Red-Nosed Reindeer on my DVD/Blu-ray shelf.
