The Modern Warfare 2 Stimulus Package consists of three
brand new maps and two returning maps from the first Modern Warfare. The new maps are Salvage, Storm, and Bailout.
These maps fit perfectly with the original maps on the game. Salvage is a snow covered map that features a lot of great
hiding spots and multiple locations for great ambushes. And even though Salvage is a medium sized map, it still offers
many great locations for bigger team battles along with plenty of nooks or crannies for one-on-one combat for you Rambo players
out there… myself included. Storm is probably our least favorite of the bunch, but still a remarkable addition
to the game. The layout of Storm is perfect for team based objective games or just regular team deathmatch. Bailout,
a personal favorite of mine, takes suburbia America and turns it into a war zone. Offering multiple routes in and out
of buildings… Bailout is a perfectly balanced level for snipers and assault rifle users alike. With so many ways
in and out of locations; I’m constantly checking my back and moving because you’re never safe in one location.
Then there’s Crash and Overgrown; I’m not upset at all that they included these two maps in with the pack, I love
it when games such as Call of Duty or Halo give us fans the chance to play “fan favorite” levels from previous
games. I wouldn’t say they cheated us fans by only offering us three new maps, but fifteen dollars is a bit much.
The only reason why this map pack didn’t get a 5 out of 5 from us is because of the price; I feel it would have been
a great value at 800 Microsoft Points ($10.00), but any Modern Warfare 2 enthusiast won’t have a problem paying the
$15 to play these new (and old) maps.
So really it comes down to
how big of a fan you are of this game and how often you play online; if you’re online every night you’ll definitely
need to pick this up, but if you’re a casual gamer who only plays occasionally you may want to wait until the price
goes down, probably when the new map pack is released in June. If they do decide to give us more maps from Modern Warfare
in the next release, I just hope Broadcast, District, and Downpour are on the list!
