Go Speed Racer, go!
Speed Racer speeds off the shelves and into our living-rooms with an action packed, semi-cartoony rendition of a classic Anime.
Speed Racer was a cherished cartoon from the 60's that portrayed young Speed who aspired to
be the world's best race-car champion and the film is no different.
Clocking in at just over two hours, Speed Racer may be a little long but still an enjoyable
time for all, yes including the young ones as long as you can keep their attention span for the entire movie.
As we all know, TV influenced films usually fail to achieve the same feeling and success as
the original, not necessarily true for Speed Racer. The entire movie makes you feel as though you're watching one incredibly
long episode of the original series, and although the movie was a little childish or cartoony at many parts, I was still able
to enjoy myself ... well except for many of the scenes with
Spritle Racer played by Paulie Litt. His scenes were too childish and brought the film down a couple points in my book. But
during the entire movie you have to realize that they were trying to be true to the series, and the series was never mean
to taken seriously.
They did a terrific job with the casting, many of the actors actually looked like they did in
the cartoon, especially when it comes down to Racer X and Trixie. I also like how we were introduced to each character
with a little flashback for each one in the beginning, it seemed as though we were able to get to know each person thoroughly
and quickly without drawing out the beginning.
Visually stunning, eye candy that you can't take your eyes off of!
