Most Peanuts specials can be considered timeless classics that cannot be compared
to most animated films or shows today; unfortunately the 1970’s (Vol. 2) collection falls short from previous releases.
The Peanuts: 1970’s Collection, Vol. 2 DVD (which features: Be My Valentine
Charlie Brown, You’re a Good Sport, It’s Arbor Day, What a Nightmare, It’s Your First Kiss and You’re
the Greatest) just doesn’t come close to previous Peanuts specials such as their holiday releases. The material
featured on this collection seems watered down and often boring and monotone; the Peanuts charm seen in other releases seems
to non-existing throughout most of the collection. And although there’s brief glimmer of hope; the collection
fails to show my why it deserved its own DVD collection. I wouldn’t say it’s
a complete disaster; it’s still Peanuts and the characters that many people love – Peanuts will always stand for
wholesome entertainment for the whole family – regardless of age. And of course you die-hard fans will love the
collection – but if you’re a first time (or casual) viewer… I’d go with the 1960’s collection
released last year.
