Do you like friends?
Do you like guns? Ya, I know you do, and I know you like being bad, like criminal bad. So you'll probably
like Payday: The Heist, well if you were able to answer the first question with examples of actual friends. The
concept isn't hard to grasp if you have been able to play Left 4 Dead and watched any of White Collar (or any other
movie/show regarding planning and executing awesome crimes).
The game involves 4 super criminals (you and three friends, or three bots if you are the solo type)
excuting heists from elaborate bank robberies, escapes, and even
a prison break. There are 6 missions, but amazingly they provide alot of variability. It
can't always be awesome though.
I probably would have figured
this out earlier, but there is practically no explaination about how to play or evolve in the game. There
is a big downside to this, since there is actually a pretty involved development system that changes things up alot.
Overall,
I had a lot of fun with Payday. It definitely isn't a single player game, but it is playable.
With a few friends though, or even some rented ones from PSN, you can get alot of fun out of this $20 downloadable
game.
Good: Solid concept, awesome variability, highly customizable play style.
Bad: Overall polish of graphics and
sound is poor, menus are practically useless, and the game could benefit from some guidance or even (and normally I hate them)
a quick tutorial.
