Garfield 2: A Tail Of Two Kitties

Garfield 2: A Tail Of Two Kitties (2006)
Nintendo DS
Rating: 6.5

At first sight, Garfield 2 for the Nintendo DS looks like a very strong game… but don’t let looks deceive you.  Like I said, it looks good… has great graphics – some of the best that I’ve seen on the Nintendo DS.  But the reason why this game disappointed me was because it was no more than a fancy side-scroller, even though it looks like you can go in other directions you’re still limited to going in just one.

You were able to look with the eyes of Garfield for the first time by using the DS stylus, I just wish they would have used that feature more than they did.

The game doesn’t offer much for the average hardcore gamer, but that’s not exactly why The Game Factory developed this game.  Kids from the ages of 5 and 13 will love this game – it has a lot to offer that age range.  It has easy game-play that allows younger kids to pick up and successfully beat it with very few problems.  Includes fun levels that will keep the kids busy over and over again.

The good: Graphics and stylus usage.
The bad: Wish you were able to go in other directions.
Replay value: Medium for kids.

Resident Evil Deadly Silence

Resident Evil Deadly Silence (2006)

I've been a fan of the Resident Evil franchise since it first debut on the Playstation - and this classic re-make is a great addition to the small DS family.  Sure, it's almost an exact import of the original, but who really cares?  They did add some new features like the touch screen... which really isn't that appealing.  My only complaint is the small screen - I found myself running into zombies that I didn't even seen because the screen was so small.  But other than that... it's yet another great game for the Nintendo DS.

The good: It's Resident Evil!
The bad: Small screen.
Replay value: Moderate

Tetris DS (2006)
Nintendo DS
Rating: 9
Nintendo made a classic game like Tetris and made it ten times more fun and ten times more addictive!  With new ways to play the game, this handheld version is the one to buy!

The good: New Tetris modes.
The bad: Nothing really.
Replay value: Very high.

Mario Kart DS

Mario Kart DS (2005)
Nintendo DS
Rating: 9.5
The best hand-held game I've ever played.  It's got maps from all Mario Kart games ever made: Super Nintendo, Nintendo 64, Gameboy Advance, and the Gamecube.

The good: Great game play.
The bad: It seems slower than other Mario Kart games, but I'm sure it was because of the frame rate on the DS.
Replay value: Very high.

Goldeneye: Rogue Agent (2005)
Nintendo DS
Rating: 6.5
I actually thought the Nintendo DS version of Rogue Agent was better than the console versions.  Maybe using the stylus made the gameplay better - who knows.  This game also had reasonably fun multi-player options.  Here are my few complaints: the AI was too repetitive (in actions and looks - it felt like I was attacking a mob of clones!) and aiming was awful (even though you use the stylus to aim - at times you're all over the screen).  But this game (including the console games) had great potential of being a good Bond game - it was just missing the James Bond feel to it.

The good: A fist person shooter on the Nintendo DS.  Reasonably good gameplay.
The bad: Aiming, AI, and no James Bond.
Replay value: Moderate.

Mario 64 DS (2004)
Nintendo DS
Rating: 9.5
Mario 64 for the Nintendo DS is a perfect example of a great game made better.  They did a great job at converting a classic game from the Nintendo 64 and made it 100% compatable with the Nintendo DS.  With added unlockable mini-games and new playable characters - this is a must have!

The good: Brought back great memories and made them better!
The bad: Nothing.
Replay value: Very high.
