The Negotiator
Rating: 3 out of 5

remember first seeing this film when it was released in the ‘90’s, it was, and still is, a decent film that somewhat limits the incredible assortment of actors.  Being one of the first films that I’ve seen to feature Kevin Spacey, I was blown away by this newcomer and his performance, but I always felt that he wasn’t giving us everything he had (which came abundantly clear after seeing his amazing performance in The Usual Suspects on video shortly after).  Samuel L. Jackson was another star whom I’ve seen only a few times before, of course it’s hard for him to surpass, or equal, his performance in Pulp Fiction, I also felt he wasn’t giving the audience everything he had to offer.  Don’t get me wrong, each performance in this film is excellent, but you just expect so much more from these polished actors – of course my standing on Sam L’s acting has dropped so much since then (especially after giving us so many half-assed roles these past few years).

The Negotiator was often predictable, but the amazing cast (including Paul Giamatti and J.T. Walsh) made it work – that’s why I’m still recommending it.
