Is it true that you were in an AXE commercial?
Yes.
How has life changed since then?
I have a better view point - a better vision of what I want to do and where I want to go. It seems a bit more obtainable
now. But nothing's really changed - everything is always the same really. Different jobs but reality is always
the same.
How long ago was that?
Late 90's.
A lot of critics didn't like Elektra. What are your thoughts on it?
I saw flaws in the script. If you're going to make an action movie it should follow what the audience likes to
see. I think they lost touch of the audience. I would have liked to have seen a little more of the villains.
Their roles should have been extended. And the harder it would have been to kill them....
Exactly - they died too easily.
Yea. Every character has to have obstacles because it creates conflict and it's solving that conflict that creates
suspense. There was also a lot of back story... I think they were thinking too much about an Elektra 2... and that's
why they felt like they needed that back story.
Do you know if they plan on a second one?
I don't think they need to go further. But there were a lot of things about the movie that I did like. It
was more kid oriented. I think they wanted PG-13. It seemed like Daredevil was for more of the older audience.
They should have made Elektra for a more mature audience. But I do have young girls come up to me and tell me that they
absolutely loved it. I didn't think it was bad though. It was for a younger crowd.
Ok, tell me about Dead Or Alive. What's it about - is it anything like the video game?
It's a lot like the video game. All the guy characters are in there - and the female characters are there.
I think the girls... as far as martial arts... I think it will be quite impressive. We went through a lot of training.
I did a lot of the stunts myself.
What kind of training did they put you through?
We worked out four hours a day. It was really intense. We had a crash course of martial arts and a lot of
weight lifting. We all formed our own style.
Have you actually played the game?
It's very weird but three years prior to me signing up for the movie I played the game... and it was the only Xbox game
that I've ever played. So when I got into the movie I didn't realize it until later that this was the video game that
I used to play with my buddies.
Tell me about your character.
I play Ayane. She is the half sister of Kasumi.
Do they show the history of those two?
They do. If you know the video game then you'll know what's going on. I'm basically trying to kill Kasumi.
Video game movies in the past have been pretty disappointing. How do you think this one will
be different?
They used a lot of stunts that are pretty amazing. The stunt work - the wire work... they do stick to the video
game... the girls are always trying to beat each other up. But they're friends at the same time. We've got real
champions of the world in this movie. There's real fighters in the movie... martial arts champions... so we have kick
ass people in the movie. So it's all real. I think the martial arts and the visuals will impress the audience.
And we actually filmed the movie in China - the studio where it was filmed at was unbelievable. It's like a hidden Chinese
treasure that makes all of the American studios look small. They have a full detailed forbidden city built. It's
crazy.
Have you seen the final product yet?
I haven't. Making the movie was a huge experience. We all learned a lot about that culture. It's going
to look like a big high budget movie in a third world country.
Do you like the physically demanding roles?
I love to do action. Action is something that comes very natural to me. But I would love to play a character
where I get to indulge in different levels of emotions.
Is there anything that you're working on right now?
No, I'm actually on holiday right now. I'm preparing to go back to Los Angeles and get back into the big rat race
again. It's going to be interesting to see how these three months will fold out.
