Lost: The Complete Series
Rating: 4.6 out of 5

Ever so often a television program hits TV with such an impact that nothing else on network television can compare, Lost was that program for this generation.

The drawing power that this program presented is unbelievable; whether you tuned in each week to keep track of your favorite character [or characters] or if you just wanted to follow the complex and addictive story – it had something for everybody.  The main cast couldn’t have been better, each one had a place on the show and it worked remarkably well throughout all six seasons.  There wasn’t a moment where one character overstayed their welcome.  In fact, even the supporting cast was something to brag about – from Michael Emerson who played Ben Linus to Titus Welliver who played “Man in Black” in the final season – the supporting cast was up to par with the main lineup.  Each character, including some of the lesser known characters, had their own interesting back-story that would be revealed throughout the show – a back-story that would be told by flashbacks, flash-forwards, and yes even flash-sideways.  You will continue to learn about each character well into the sixth season, and even up until the end of the very final episode.

The story may be a little overwhelming for some to follow, it’s not hard to follow, but a little intimidating to think that there are six seasons and each episode is a continuing storyline.  So yes, if you miss an episode – you could find yourself lost.  Throughout the series you will see them crash on the island, discover inhabitants on the island, mourn some losses along the way and even time travel – a storyline that may seem laughable on paper, but it actually works rather well for the show.

You may have heard online and by some friends that the final episode is a letdown, well I’m here to tell you that I heard that as well, but I didn’t let their perception of the show dwindle the experience I had by completing the series.  Let me tell you, the final episode is not a disappointment – in fact, the last four or five episodes of the long running series are by far some of my favorite episodes.  The conclusion is fulfilling and rewarding – it couldn’t have ended in a more beautiful way.

I had the honor and privilege of reviewing Lost: The Complete Collection [Blu-ray], this edition features a large pyramid casing that includes all six seasons [on Blu-ray or DVD] nestled safely inside.  Not only will you get all six season on Blu-ray for less than two-hundred dollars [just a little than $33.00 per season], but this version includes the game that Jacob and the “Man in Black” play in season six, a hidden message from Jacob, over three hours of never-before-seen bonus footage, a Lost Island replica [which includes a bonus disc hidden inside], a black torch light that helps you find that secret compartment inside the island, and thirty-two hours of bonus features from the rest of the seasons!  Two-hundred dollars may seem like a lot for a television series, but let me tell you that it is well worth it!  You will find yourself paying more than that if you plan to buy each season individually.

Lost is an experience I will never forget, and I will be re-visiting the series often.
