If you’ve read my review of X-men Origins: Wolverine you know my disgust for most video games based on other
mediums such as movies and television; of course there are always exceptions to everything – and I’m pleased to say that Ice Age: Dawn of the Dinosaurs for the Xbox 360 wasn’t half bad at all. I wouldn’t go as far
to say that it’s a great game, but I would definitely recommend this for gamers under the age of ten.
I haven’t seen the new film, so I can’t say if it follows the plot at all – but you do get a chance to play
with nearly every major character in the film. To keep this game refreshing the creators allow you to play as a different
character for each level; and each one has their own original gameplay – you get a touch of old school side-scrolling
like the original Mario games when you play as Scat, a small bit of Marble Madness while Sid steers dinosaur eggs to safety,
and a little side-scrolling shooter as well – of course most of the game is the usual 3D layout where you’re walking
around completing objectives, but the other elements give it a fresh feel – all while not boring you to death like other
repetitive games of its kind such as Kung Fu Panda and Wall-e.
Hardcore gamers might want
to pass on this title; unless those hardcore gamers have kids… I do recommend younger gamers check it out.
I give it three and a half extinct dodos out of five.
