Casino Royale
Movie Rating: 9
I have to give Daniel Craig credit,
at first when I heard he was cast as the next James Bond I thought it was a terrible idea, not because he’s a bad actor
– just because he didn’t fit the image of Bond. But, after watching Casino Royale I’m glad he’s
the next one to wear the suit and tie. Daniel Craig does a terrific job portraying 007, in many scenes he actually resembles
a younger Sean Connery from the Dr. No era.
The storyline could have been
much stronger, at times I forgot what the story was about. It was also missing a lot of essential assets that makes
a Bond movie what it is. For instance, in the opening credits you only see James instead of the not-so modest women.
True, you don’t need that to make a great Bond film, but it’s a tradition that’s lasted over thirty
years. Although Daniel Craig did a great job as James Bond, he was still missing the suaveness that makes James who
he is. Maybe it’s because this was a pre-bond film, and he might develop it as the series progresses. I
also didn’t like how they gave this movie a timeline by mentioning 9-11, so did the other Bond movies ever exist?
They should have made this set in the 60’s and have it build up to Dr. No.
All that aside, this was a
great film filled with action packed chase sequences and another great addition to the Bond family. A semi-realistic
view into the Bond world.
The good: Great action, great new Bond.
The bad: Storyline was a little weak.
