Batman: The Brave and the Bold [Season One, Part One] is a breeze of fresh
air in the Batman [animated] franchise. Of course this is not, nor will it ever be, Batman: The
Animated Series from the 90’s; no superhero cartoon can ever replace that, but instead we are given a nice new look
into the animated world of the Caped Crusader.
First off, let me talk a little about the DVD itself. Could they have put
the entire first season onto the DVD? Sure! Did they? No!
This is a huge issue for fans online, but I don’t feel this should hold anyone back from purchasing this DVD
release. This set features thirteen episodes [out of twenty-six] from the first season. Thirteen
is a good amount to include in a box-set, so thirteen episodes for the great price of $15 is a steal! Would
you rather pay $40 [or more] for twenty-six episodes?
For those of you who don’t know about The Brave and the Bold –
it’s a great cartoon that I enjoy along with my six year old daughter. With a wide age range of fans,
this show has something for everyone. This is a lighter look at the DC Comics world; I’d say it’s
a good mix of Batman: The Animated Series and the 1960’s Adam West Batman that I loved as a kid. So
it can be a little campy or cheesy at times, but hey… it’s better than “Batman & Robin” from
1997.
If you’re a Batman fan,
such as myself, and you enjoy watching animated episodes of The Dark Knight… go out and spend $15 on this thirteen
episode DVD set. If you’re not a fan of Batman… then what are you doing here?
