Tell me about yourself, how did you get the acting bug?
I basically grew up doing theater; I was a real musical theater kid growing up.  I grew up in a small town so I wasn't really exposed to the possibility of doing television or film.  I then went to theater school and graduated... and got an agent, and then I fell into doing mostly television.  I did a production of West Side Story about four years ago, but basically I've been doing mostly TV and some film.

What are your interests when it comes to acting; what type of roles do you like to do?
I do a lot of comedy; a lot of quirky... I wouldn't say odd... a lot of trusty sidekicks or comedy relief kind of characters.  I think I'm ready to start doing leads; independent films are the way I would like to go... I just find the stories so interesting.

Tell me about Harper's Island.  (now moved to Saturday nights on CBS!)
Harper's, I'm so excited.  I think it's going to be great, some people are explaining it as a 13 hour movie... they're pitching it as a 13 week murder mystery event.  It's kind of like Survivor in a way; even filming it... we didn't know if/when we were going to die... if we were the killer.

So you just saw each script one at a time?
Exactly right.  I've never done anything like that before.  This was just so exciting, it was really dynamic... everyone was on their best behavior, all the actors were trying to do their best job to kind of influence their run on the show.

What can you tell me about the show without giving too much away?
The whole plot focuses on this big wedding, everyone is coming to Harper's Island for the wedding.  Our lead character, Abby Mills, her mother was one of the victims that got murdered on the island seven years ago.  Abby and my character, Nikki, grew up together and were best friends... I'm kind of like her closest girlfriend from childhood... I'm one of the girls who never left Harper's Island.  She's a sassy bartender who loves running the show at the bar, really kind of funny and sarcastic.  Then things start to go very bad on the island.  It's separated between the wedding guests, the out-of-towners, and the people who actually live on Harper's.

And I would assume that everyone eventually turns into a suspect as the series progresses?
Yeah, people start dying right away... so it's like a classic whodunit.  It was so exciting to be a part of it; I think people are really going to be hooked into it.  It's just unfortunate, you know... like Survivor is going to have a whole new cast next year... so we finally get our own big show.  It premiers April 9th.

What else are you working on right now?
I'm on Kyle XY right now, there's a movie with Cuba Gooding Jr. that's going to go straight to DVD... I don't know when it's coming out.  But the movie that I'm most excited about is Sook-Yin Lee's movie called Year of the Carnivore.  She directed it, and I just think that it's really funny... it's her directorial debut.  It chronicles this 20-something year old girl... her sexual adventures as she's trying to gain a little more experience.  I play this character named Sylvia and she basically councils Sammy.  I'm excited, I think it'll do well.

Catch Harper's Island Saturday nights on CBS!
